It’s Our Anniversary!
Do YOU know what today is? It’s the 9-year anniversary of Carter’s Corner! I am both amazed and ecstatic to still be writing here. I wrote my welcome post on June 13, 2012, with the intent of using photos from travel ventures to tell stories. It took another three years before I had the courage to share the inspiration behind Carter’s Corner. In between that time and for many years to follow, I’ve written about a little of everything! I wrote about returning to grad school as a nontraditional student. I wrote about Maya Angelou’s (STILL my favorite author) death and her writing’s profound impact on my life. I wrote about one of my many weight loss journeys and featured some freelance writing I was doing. I wrote about healing and about segregation in houses of worship and the art of being still. I wrote about returning to the U.S. after spending six months in the U.K. and my prayers for a new life. I wrote through the pain of this last year plus and reminded myself to cultivate JOY!
I wrote and wrote and wrote. I continue to write and thank you for continuing to read. As podcasts become more and more popular – I have one of those too 🙂 – writing is still my primary art of cultivation. I write to heal. I write to laugh. I write to remember. I write to be in community. I write to love. I write to experience joy. Writing is my heart-speak. Thank you for supporting Carter’s Corner … I promise to keep writing.
