THE Best Investment I Made: My Journey with E2M
If you followed my blog for any length of time, you know how committed I am to wellbeing. And this commitment has shown up in various ways through the years. Sometimes, it is a more central focus on physical health. There have been extended seasons when I was more focused on spiritual health. And for the last few years, I’ve written more about ease, rest, JOY, and play … cultivating mental health. Regardless of what captures my attention most during any given timeframe, I understand that my health truly is my wealth and continue to find ways to foster holistic health and wellness. This season of my life is no different. BUT what is different is the mechanism I chose to help me refocus on my physical health.
In August of this year, I knew I needed to make a shift. I’d regained much of the weight I loss nearly four and a half years ago … quickly spiraling to more and more unhealthy habits. I started with what had worked so many times before: meal tracking and simple, daily movement. For two months this strategy worked. I was slowly shedding the pounds and feeling better, as well as stronger, in my body. But then the weight loss momentum stopped and naturally, I was discouraged. No matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to get the scale to budge. I knew I needed help but wasn’t quite sure what I could commit to mid-semester.
Simultaneously, I’d been stalking the Eager 2 Motivate social media pages. After seeing a friend and witnessing her MAJOR transformation, I knew the program could be a viable next step for me. BUT sign-ups only occur every eight weeks so I had to wait.
The end of October could not arrive soon enough! I signed up as soon as open enrollment was available and immediately began orienting myself to the program.
As someone who has done Weight Watchers (multiple times), six-week challenges, fitness accountability groups, bootcamps, AND private nutritional counseling, I have NEVER experienced a program as comprehensive as E2M. The community is UNMATCHED. The workouts are realistic, yet challenging. The meal plan is simple – no frills, no supplements, no magic bullets. Just whole meals and indulgences enjoyed in moderation.
At the time that I write this post, I’ve completed my first round with E2M and cannot wait to begin the next round in just a few days. The transformation has exceeded my expectations and I am down nearly 40 lbs. (39.4 to be exact), 24 since starting E2M. I feel lighter. My body is stronger. I can comfortably fit MY clothes again. My mind is clearer (I also recommitted to sobriety after listening to This Naked Mind) And perhaps best of all, I have a new FitFam that inspires and encourages me daily.
If you’re like me, you’ve been here before (I so admire folks who have NEVER struggled with their weight or made a commitment and have never wavered or regained weight they’ve lost). But this is not my story and I am okay with it. My hope is that I can inspire those like me to begin again. It is NEVER too late and NEVER too big of a price to invest in our health and wellness! EVER!
I still have goals and a few more pounds to shed, but for now I celebrate the victory. I am proud of me and looking forward to the journey ahead. I have also etched in my mind that last time was the LAST time (regaining weight; allowing food and alcohol to be the center of my recreational activities; compromising on a healthy lifestyle to accommodate others …). I hope you’ll journey with me OR at least cheer me on along the way! Happy New Year!
